Work with us to Improve Education

Join with us to improve education

Do you want to make a difference?  We invite you to join us in supporting the work of Umbrella Initiatives Foundation in our outreach in improving education for children.  Umbrella Initiatives was founded in 2010 with a focus on working with community groups to improve the quality of education for children in Peru. Over the past six years the organization has grown from with two schools Join with us to improve educationto over twenty schools annually and reaching over 5,00 students with inventive and interactive programs and expanding into new countries.

Umbrella Initiatives work focuses on concrete projects including the Backpack Project and the Bilingual Voices Program.  The Backpack Project is the signature project in Peru and Bolivia with a focus on working with community partners to provide fun academic reinforcement activities to children prior to the start of the school year.  At the end of the summer camp all children who attended receive backpack with the necessary supplies they will need to be successful.  In addressing the distinct realities in the United States, the organization operates the Bilingual Voices Program.  This program focuses on teaching Spanish and culture to second generation Latino children to help improve fluency and self-esteem of the next generation of American citizens.

Through the projects and program, Umbrella always looks to work with community partners and design interventions specific to the needs for the community.  As we continue to expand our work we ask for your support.  All donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law as Umbrella Initiatives is a 501 (c) 3 organization.  Also giving is really easy either secure donating online
or through mailing a check to Umbrella Initiatives at 503 Crabb Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850.

What Difference can I make?

Often times when asked to donate this is the question we inevitably ask ourselves.  How will my $5, $10, or perhaps $100 donation do in the big scheme of things and all of the injustice in the world?  However, at Umbrella Initiatives both our work and outreach is powered by grassroots giving and donations from friends, family and the friends of other friends.  We try to keep the overhead of our work to a minimum cost and ensure that raised funds go to the project and help individuals in need.  Thus, your donation of $25 provides for one week of academic reinforcement for one child along with all the materials and backpack that they will receive.  Essentially, you can make a difference in the life of a child through your donation.  So empower communities, improve education and make a difference with Umbrella Initiatives today!
