We are almost there in reaching are goal of 1000 backpacks for next years backpack project. We are only 200 backpacks away from funding our goal of 1000 backpacks for 2014. This support goes to fund the Backpack Project that provides one week of academic reinforcement for children living in poverty and then a backpack with all the supplies and materials needed to start the school year.
A key aspect of the Backpack Project is the over 120 volunteers who will provide creative scholastic reinforcement class throughout the months of January and February. Through the project volunteers are mobilized outside of both their churches and social groups to reach and help those in need in their local community. Through your support and donations you can help ensure that the Project is truly a success and we reach our goal of 1000 backpacks.
Umbrella Initiatives sends it sincere thanks to Bethesda Presbyterian Church and the Social Action Ministry for supporting the Backpack Project and donating $3000.00 to support work and activities in Peru. If you or your congregation would like to become a supporter of Umbrella Initiatives and the Backpack Project please contact Rob Rivers at Robert.firstname.lastname@example.org.
