Fourth Anniversary Fiesta

On Saturday, June 14th Umbrella celebrated its birthday with about 120 of its good friends in the Montgomery County area. Thank you to Bim Bam Bum Fiesta, Sentimiento Peruano, and all the volunteers.

The goal for the event was three-fold; celebrate four years of work and service, have an event that would provide a fun and interactive time for both parents and children, and also to raise funds to help support the work of Umbrella.

Without a doubt thanks to the support of amazing volunteers we were able to actually reach these goals and have a great time.  The event started with an amazing show for children led by Dora and her team from Bim Bam Bum Fiestas.  fiesta

Children were enthralled and her  cast of characters from Spiderman to Elmo.  One of the real highlights was when Dora the Explora highlighted and modeled the backpacks provided through the Backpack Project.  Afterwards we were treated to three amazing dance performances from the daughter of Sagrario and also from the group Sentimeiento Peruano.

Lastly, Sebastian Saenz, the event MC, ended the fiesta announcing the winner the raffles and everyone enjoyed the music, food and good times. In the end through donations from the events support for over 100 backpacks was raised and now we are a few steps closer to our goal of 2,000 backpacks for next year.
