Running for Backpacks

Katherine and Michael are running the longest race of their lives to date
and you can help support them in the Tar Heel Ten-Miler. On, April 26, 2014
they will be running in support of the nonprofit organization Umbrella
Initiatives Foundation (www.umbrellainitiatives.org).

Umbrella Initiatives provides improved educational opportunity to children
in living in poverty in the country of Peru through the Backpack Project.
The project provides one week of fun academic reinforcement prior to the
start of the school year followed by a backpack with all the necessary
school supplies a student will need.

Their goal for the run is to raise at least $2,000; which will provide the
Backpacks for over 80 children.

The goal for Backpack Project is to provide 2,000 backpacks next year and
through Michael and Katherine’s run we are striding towards that goal.

Also all donations are tax deductible in the US.  For questions email robert.rivers@umbrellainitiatives.org.
