On July 28, 1822 Jose de San Martin declared Peru’s Independence from Spain and since that day, Peruvians around the world have celebrated the 28th with great pride, patriotism and with celebrations. The celebrations highlight the unique historical and culture heritage. In honor of Peruvian Independence Day, we at Umbrella Initiatives Foundation have participated in various activities to celebrate this joyous occasion and to raise support for our goal oriented projects focused in Peru.
Specifically, on Sunday, July 27, 2014, we participated in the Festival Peruano de Virginia selling handmade crafts in order to support the Backpack Project. Through the selling and networking, we were able to raise support for an additional 30 backpacks for the upcoming year. Below are some images from the event:
